Village of Vernon & Village of Waukesha Intercept Agreement
The Vernon Fire Department has an agreement with the Village of Waukesha to provide intercept services. The agreement can be found here.
Intercept services are situations where a paramedic-level unit (often from another agency or department) meets up with a lower-level EMS crew—such as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)–Basic or EMT–Intermediate team—to provide advanced life support (ALS) to a patient.
File of Life Program
Vernon has a file of life program in place. The form should be completed in full and placed on the front of your refrigerator. Upon arrival, the Fire Dept personnel will retrieve the information to obtain important medical history.
You can also pick up copies at the Vernon Fire Station if you cannot print from the website.
Village of Vernon Fire Dept: Always Hiring
The Vernon Fire Dept (VFD) operates with a 24/7 staffing model, each member working 12 hour shifts of 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am. You are encouraged to apply even if you are not yet trained and/or certified. VFD takes pride in the amount of training invested into members. Whether you just finished high school or you are 25 years into a career and looking for a change, we encourage you to explore this opportunity! There are no residency requirements, so VFD members can live anywhere they wish as long as they can make the drive to work on time.
