Proposal for Fire Dept Staffing & Cost Savings Provided to the Board

The below solution was sent to the board. The solution meets the staffing and financial "crisis" that citizens have been told needs to be met and is "critical" to resolve.

Not billing other communities for paramedic services VFD is providing, is costing the Village of Vernon Taxpayers

Paramedic intercepts are services provided to other communities that are in need of a higher level of care other than basic EMS. Vernon often responds to paramedic intercept calls for the Village of Waukesha because Waukesha relies on Vernon to provide a higher level of care that they are not equipped to handle.

Issue: Only board meetings that fall on the first and third Thursday of each month are live streamed/recorded.

July 11th, 2025 update: the board agreed to live stream all village board meetings, but not committee meetings. We thank the board for hearing our concerns and citizens for voicing the need for access to meetings. However, shortly after the agreement to record all board meetings, the equipment allegedly broke. Meetings are still not consistently being recorded even though there are multiple avenues to record.

*Update: 10/18/2025: Meetings continue to go on without recording which is now being blamed on technical difficulties. Therefore, the village financial planning meetings for 2026 are not recorded. We encourage you to hold the board and clerk accountable for their obligation to record, which can be done in various ways, such as Facebook live.
